At Supermarket 2024, isgisgisgisgisgisgisgisgisg.com presents Parallels, a group exhibition featuring Alice Slyngstad, Erin Sexton, Serena Porrati, Ronny Faber Dahl, and Simona Barbera.
Parallels showcases artists and practices that embody liminal spaces within digital networks, focusing on the circulation and dissemination of digital archives at the intersection of screen and physical space. The exhibition features encoded images, generative algorithms, text works, vocal parts, errors, and digital erasure traversing screens and open interfaces. Melted patterns on printed fabrics and sculptural shapes in synthetic and organic materials embody energy and optical interferences, pixelated water flows, vibrant hues, and luminous shaders. Errors and pixel-drain represent dysfunctions in information systems, causing disruption, broken communications for a while, and time dilation. From appropriated obsolete digital archives uploaded to Tumblr to topological structures and crystallized materialities exploring dimensionality and bodily timing, Parallels reflects on the interplay between online and offline tactile, vulnerable connections that resonate with personal forms and desires.
