Sonic architecture, sports center, swimming pools access threshold
Apnea is a sound installation created at the NEI sports center in Monza, commissioned for Monza Biennale 2019. The spatialized audio piece was played within the gym’s architectural structure during sporting activities, featuring continuous cycles and moments of pause, controlled by the passing public. Sound samples were digitally processed in conjunction with recorded physical gestures by two performers. The installation included environmental speakers specifically designed for audio diffusion in public spaces.
